A major Overwatch 2 exploit has been discovered, letting users leave games without being punished or losing SR.
Typically, leaving an Overwatch 2 match early comes with penalties. Not only will you lose skill rating for losing, but you’ll also be suspended from play and not able to requeue right away.
This makes it so that even if a match is going poorly, players can’t just rage quit without being penalized, but a new exploit completely changes that.
Currently, Overwatch 2 has a limited-time 6v6 competitive mode active and in that mode at least, it seems like users can leave without suffering any consequences.
Overwatch 2 exploit prevents leavers from losing SR or being suspended
As shown by Overwatch 2 player Mason ‘durpee’ Kuehne, in the 6v6 mode, users can log out of a game without losing SR.
Dupree uploaded footage from pro player Kyle ‘Rakattack’ Rakauskas’s Twitch stream in which he left with seconds remaining in the match. Dupree was on the opposing team and was about to lose.
dont want to gatekeep this but (at least in 6v6) you can /log out of a game without suspension/losing SR. I left a game as soon as I loaded into it the other day (lobby got cancelled) and I didn't lose anything. today I tested it by doing /logout 3 seconds before I would've lost pic.twitter.com/VuNsFJUP2W

“I left a game as soon as I loaded into it the other day (lobby got cancelled) and I didn’t lose anything. Today I tested it by doing /logout 3 seconds before I would’ve lost,” he explained.
In footage from dupree’s POV, ten minutes after the match, he was still not suspended and hadn’t lost any SR.
According to dupree, he revealed this because he didn’t want to “gatekeep” the information. It could also result in Blizzard being forced to quickly patch this exploit if it gets attention.
“Annnnnnd submitting this tweet to OW Support, you’re done for pal,” one user said.
“Is this why I’ve seen an uptick in leavers recently?” another asked.
So far, it’s not known if Blizzard is aware of this or if they’re working on fixing it, but for now, players may want to be wary of users with inflated ranks taking advantage of this exploit.
