GameStop’s new $10,000 Riptonium Pokemon Power Pack gives buyers a 44.8% chance of pulling a card estimated at just $6,000-$8,000.
Power Packs are digital packs created through a partnership between GameStop and PSA. Customers open a pack online to reveal a PSA-graded card, which can then be stored in a PSA Vault, shipped to the buyer, or sold through the platform. GameStop says higher-tier packs offer better chances at valuable cards, but do not guarantee a profitable pull.
GameStop announced Riptonium as its biggest Power Pack yet, with the new tier offering chase cards from across Pokemon history. The pack is now available through the official Power Packs website.
Nearly half of the pulls are estimated below $8,000
The Riptonium listing shows a 44.8% chance of pulling a card valued between $6,000 and $8,000. Since the pack costs $10,000, those pulls are worth at least $2,000 less than the purchase price based on GameStop’s own estimates.
Another 29.9% of pulls are listed in the $8,000-$10,000 range. That means nearly three-quarters of the listed outcomes fall below or around the cost of the pack, before resale fees or any difference between the estimated value and what a buyer can actually receive.
The listing also shows a 22.9% chance of a $10,000-$20,000 card, while the odds drop to 1.5% for $20,000-$40,000, 0.5% for $40,000-$80,000, and 0.4% for a card valued above $80,000. The top pull currently listed is valued at $156,000.
The website warns that item values can fluctuate and that the probabilities update every five minutes. GameStop says those estimates are calculated using market data and help determine its instant buyback offers.
The new pack has already drawn criticism online. ScruffyCityTV summed up the downside with the response, “Instant 4k loss sounds fun,” alongside a screenshot of the Riptonium odds.
GameStop are genuinely the most brilliant corporate scammers ever. Buying up hundreds of thousands of previously junk slabs at ridiculous prices, artificially inflating the market while doing so, then selling the CHANCE to pull already 10x pumped slabs back to your unsuspecting… https://t.co/eOYIMYKZXN

In a separate post on X, TheGoblinnn accused GameStop and other mystery-pack companies of inflating card prices before selling customers a chance to pull those same cards.
The listed odds do not guarantee that every buyer will lose money, since customers can hold or attempt to sell their cards. However, the figures show that the most likely Riptonium outcome is a card worth less than the $10,000 entry price.
