"Jesus used a parable to make a similar point. God's kingdom, he said, is like a man who plants seed in the ground and then goes about his daily rhythm, sleeping and rising each day until one day the seeds spring forth into life.
"Well, what does Jesus parable tell us? Firstly, it tells us that all of us have a part to play. We're like the farmer sowing seed. We're called to be active. Participants were called to action.
"But lest we have an inflated view of our own importance, Jesus reminds us that it's God who brings the growth and transformation. This lesson brings great liberty. Maybe you're faithfully plugging away, sowing seeds of hope and truth, but seeing nothing."
