"Just a few weeks before his death, a family friend sat with him and asked him where he was at on his faith journey.
"As they talked, he indicated that he had changed his mind and wished to become a Christian. So the friend said a simple prayer of commitment with him. He died three weeks later.
"Our parable this week contrasts a person who says they will follow Jesus, then doesn't with a person who says they won't follow Jesus, then does.
"It's a reminder that Grace asks a simple question. Will you say yes? Christians believe that anyone can say yes to Jesus throughout our lives.
"No one is too bad or too old or too late to make that choice. Even if a person said no their whole life, like the dear man in our parish, there's always a chance to say yes."
