“One of the biggest lessons in Matthew's Gospel is that not everything is as clear as it first appears.
“We live in a world where people are often judged for one mistake, one room or one bad moment, and suddenly someone is labelled or cancelled forever.
“People can be left distraught by this, but this story reminds us that people are more complicated. The farmer in the story chooses patience.
“That doesn't mean ignoring bad behaviour or pretending wrongdoing is okay, or that there won't be justice, but it does mean that human beings are not always as easy to categorise as we think.
“Some people who look hopeless can change. Growth takes time. Judgment, at the end of the day, belongs to God more than to us.”
