"In Matthew's Gospel, Chapter 28, Jesus's final words to his close followers are simple but powerful. Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the father, son, and Holy Spirit. And I am with you always. That's his final commission, and it's worth noticing what he doesn't say.
"He doesn't say build an empire or something impressive, or conquer the world, or even fix everything that's wrong. Nor does he say, stay safe and keep your faith private. Instead, he says, go into the whole world. Move forward to everyone. Don't let what you have received stop with you. Let it spread through your life to others. He says, make disciples.
"A disciple is simply a learner, someone who follows and listens. Someone who walks and works alongside someone like an apprentice. So Jesus is basically saying, help others learn what it looks like to live God's way, the way you have been learning from me."
