God of War Laufey star Deborah Ann Woll says she hasn’t been affected by any of the hate towards the game because she’s confident it’s going to be good.

The surprise reveal at the end of June’s PlayStation State of Play was God of Laufey, a brand-new spin-off from the Norse GOW series. The game follows Kratos’ wife, Faye, following her death at the start of the 2018 reboot, as she journeys through the afterlife of the gods.

It was an announcement that immediately split the fanbase, with many loving the new direction, while others criticized the decision to shift focus away from Kratos. Bizarrely, even Domino’s Pizza called the game out, causing Sony Santa Monica to respond.

But Deborah Ann Woll, who’s set to reprise her role as Faye from Ragnarok, isn’t letting the backlash affect her.

Deborah Ann Woll doesn’t care about Laufey hate as the game is “great”

During a signing at Florida Supercon, TikToker ‘quinnphobic’ spoke to Woll about the reaction to Laufey, and she wasn’t phased by it at all.

“Genuinely, I thought I was going to be much more affected by it, but one, I’m not on social media, so that helps,” she explained. “And two, I don’t know, I feel totally unbothered, because I just know it’s great.”

“It’s okay if it’s not your cup of tea, but in no universe is it bad.”

Although God of War Laufey was only unveiled recently, the idea has clearly been around for some time. Woll revealed that Cory Barlog actually pitched the idea of a game focused on Faye all the way back in 2018, and she’s been forced to keep the secret ever since.

Woll’s protagonist isn’t the character who has come under fire. Phranque, a strange talking cube played by The Boys’ Jack Quaid has also proved to be controversial.
