God of War TV show reportedly eyeing Dave Bautista for Kratos role

Following an injury on the set of the God of War TV show, Kratos is being recast, and Dave Bautista is reportedly in the running to replace actor Ryan Hurst.

Back in July, it was revealed that the God of War TV show was in the process of recasting Kratos, the fierce Ghost of Sparta and one of the main characters in the video game, after actor Ryan Hurst suffered a serious injury on set. He reportedly tore a bicep while performing a stunt for the show, with the injury expected to take up to six months to heal.

As such, the studio began searching for a new actor to play the legendary Kratos, with the aim of resuming production and reshooting the four episodes they’d completed all over again. Well, it seems they’re heavily eyeing up legendary actor and retired wrestler Dave Bautista.

As originally reported by Deadline, “Dave Bautista is in negotiations to play Kratos” in the God of War TV show.

Essentially, this means that the studio and creators are actively discussing terms to bring Bautista onto the show, but the final contract hasn’t been signed just yet. So, while they’re reportedly heavily eyeing up the actor for the role of Kratos, this is still subject to change.

Of course, with Bautista’s skills as a (now-retired) decorated professional wrestler and actor in major movie franchises like Guardians of the Galaxy, it makes a ton of sense that he’d be in the running for Kratos, with the character himself also having a more dominant, muscular build.

In fact, previously, following the news of the recasting, fans were quick to suggest the likes of Bautista, alongside Jason Momoa, Travis Fimmel, or even Christopher Judge, the voice of Kratos in the 2018 video game and Ragnarok.

Nothing has been set in stone as of yet, but if the negotiations go through, Bautista will be joining an incredibly stacked cast.
