The British have good taste in food, shockingly.
U.K. food can be a real hit or miss. Fish ‘n chips is their signature dish, but if you get it at a grimy pub down in Croydon, I can assure you it will taste like soggy, greasy, fishy rubber. But this English FIFA World Cup fan had an epiphany Wednesday. He saw the light and tasted heaven. He had his first American brisket, specifically Texas brisket. He did it all with a giant cowboy hat.
“We’re going to get drunk before the game. We’re going to get drunk during the game. And then we’re going to get drunk after the game.”

He also sang the praises of Shiner Bock, a famous beer brewed in the Lone Star State, and his attitude about drinking was very British.
“We’re going to get drunk before the game. We’re going to get drunk during the game. And then we’re going to get drunk after the game,” he told a local reporter.
One of the best parts of this World Cup has been the European tourists discovering America for the first time. They are genuinely floored by the things we all take for granted, like our amazing BBQ, beer and Waffle House. It’s like watching your niece or grandson entertain themselves with something as simple as a rubber ball for hours.
It’s also a reminder that America is awesome, despite what haters say.
