The stars of Good Morning America have been sharing their hopes and goals for the year ahead, and one in particular is longing for a better relationship with his daughters.

Whit Johnson had joined hosts Gio Benitez and Janai Norman for the weekend edition of the ABC program when he opened up about his family life.

Whit, 42, started the conversation and said: 'All right, we're having a lightning round here, our new year's resolutions, let's start with you, Janai. What have you got?'

'I want to become conversational in Spanish,' she revealed, before adding: 'I almost got it in college and Gio offered to help me.'

Gio, 39, quickly replied: 'So now our conversations, we're going to do them in Español.'

'You'll just ignore me?' Whit then joked as Janai responded: 'Si, si, amigo!'

Gio then told him: 'You can learn too,' before he revealed: 'My resolution would be to master the piano. I'm already learning it, I'm going to master it.'

'I like it,' Whit then replied before admitting: 'Don't judge me on this one... I'm actually looking for ways to avoid arguments with my daughters.

'I love my daughters dearly, but [I'm] looking for solutions for a better relationship for 2025.'

He then said: 'If anybody has any tips, please send them this way!' as Janai said: 'I love to give him a hard time, but you're a good papa, Whit.'

The TV anchor and his wife Andrea Fujii are parents to Leah, 12, and Summer, 10.

In July of last year, Whit admitted that he'd 'scored a few Dad points' after he managed to get his daughters a meet and greet with Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

The duo were in the Good Morning America studio to promote their movie Deadpool & Wolverine and posed for a photo with Whit and his girls.

When he shared the snap on Instagram, Whit captioned the post: 'So when my daughters asked if they could come with me to work today, I quickly realized it had nothing to do with me… and EVERYTHING to do with these guys!!

'@vancityreynolds and @thehughjackman were hilarious and so sweet with my girls. Made their day!! And I think I scored a few “dad points” too. Can’t wait to see #deadpoolandwolverine!'

Whit has been married to fellow ABC correspondent Andrea for 17 years.

The happy couple marked their anniversary back in August and celebrated the occasion with a family trip to Honolulu, Hawaii.

Posting some snaps of him and his wife on Instagram, Whit wrote: '17 years married! Endless adventures, 2 wonderful kids, a lot of addresses… and so many dogs! Truly grateful for this life we’ve built together. Happy anniversary!'

Whit met Andrea while working at his first television station job in Yakima, Washington.

The two met while he was an evening weekend anchor and reporter for KNDO/KNDU-TV, an NBC-affiliated station in Yakima/Tri-Cities. The couple have moved around the country together to pursue their TV careers.
