GB News host Andrew Pierce has hailed "good riddance" to activist group Just Stop Oil, following their announcement that they will stop their public protests across the country.

The climate group, known for their controversial protests, revealed today that it is changing its approach after claiming success in its campaign against new oil and gas.

In its statement, Just Stop Oil claimed: "Just Stop Oil's initial demand to end new oil and gas is now Government policy, making us one of the most successful civil resistance campaigns in recent history."

"We've kept over 4.4 billion barrels of oil in the ground and the courts have ruled new oil and gas licences unlawful," the statement continued.

Lis explained: "This is fantastic news for everybody, because a lot of people on the left really, really hated what they did, because it turned a lot of people against the movement in general.

"But on the other hand, it did get people talking about them, and that is important."

Highlighting the "fundamental point" about the climate activist group, Lis stressed that their demand to stop new oil and gas has "finally been listened to".

He told GB News: "The fundamental point here, the political point which they're making, is that the Government has now actually accepted their fundamental demand to stop issuing new oil and gas licenses.

"And so technically, we have just stopped oil."

Just Stop Oil indicated it is developing a new approach to activism in response to what it perceives as systemic issues.

"As corporations and billionaires corrupt political systems across the world, we need a different approach," the group stated.

The organisation appears to be pivoting toward broader political concerns beyond its initial focus on oil and gas.

"We are creating a new strategy, to face this reality and to carry our responsibilities at this time," the statement continued.

The group concluded with a stark assessment of what it believes is necessary: "Nothing short of a revolution is going to protect us from the coming storms."
