A Michigan woman says she was the victim of a brutal, unprovoked attack on the streets of Detroit after her Uber driver dropped her off at the wrong location.

Morgan Catton, 27, was on her way from downtown Detroit to visit a friend on the night of September 13 when her Uber driver dropped her off several blocks away from her friend's address.

She got out of the car and opted to walk the rest of the way to the house, near Hazelwood Street and 14th Street.

Before arriving, she encountered a man riding a bicycle on the sidewalk and said she she moved to the side to allow him to pass.

'When he got close to me, he got off his bike, looked at me, grabbed me by the neck and threw me to the ground, where he repeatedly punched me in the face,' Catton told WXYZ. 'It happened so quickly. There was no time to react. I didn't even get my hands on him at all.'

Morgan Catton, 27, said she was brutally beaten by a man on a bicycle in an unprovoked attack attack, leaving her bloodied and bruised

Catton said there were 'no words exchanged' between her and her attacker

After the assault, which Detroit police described as completely random, Catton said the suspect sped away on the bike.

The suspect was described as a roughly 5 foot 8 man in his 40s riding a dark blue or gray bicycle.

DailyMail.com reached out to the Detroit Police Department for an update on the case.

Authorities are reportedly still investigating and haven't identified a suspect.

'There were no words exchanged,' Catton said of the attack. 'It happened so quickly. There was no time to react.'

Catton, who works as a bartender in downtown Detroit, was transported to the hospital, where she received multiple stitches around her mouth and eye.

'I thought I was going to die,' she said.

Residents who live near where the attack happened were shocked by the attack.

Renee Stokes, who lives in the neighborhood where Catton was attacked, expressed shocked at the violence

Catton said she hopes other women opt to walk with a friend at night and carry a form of protection just in case

'It's crazy because I have never seen nothing like that,' Renee Stokes told WXYZ.

Catton said she hopes other women opt to walk with a friend at night and carry a form of protection just in case.

'I have like a sick feeling in my stomach that if they don't find him that he does something like this again,' she said.

Catton set up a GoFundMe to raise money for her medical bills since she doesn't have health insurance.

'I am currently asking for help with medical bills since I am completely self pay. I have missed work, have up coming appointments to make sure my vision is not damaged and therapy I need to start,' she wrote. 'This event that took all of maybe 20 seconds has completely altered and affected my life.'

So far, she's raised $17,603, far surpassing her $10,000 goal.
