Ned Luke, the actor behind Michael in Grand Theft Auto 5, has pulled back the curtain on a GTA movie, explaining why it would be better than a TV series.

Over the years, many Grand Theft Auto fans have suggested that the series would actually make a pretty great movie or TV series, if Rockstar Games wanted to go that way.

It’s got plenty of action, comedy, there is a storyline through the heart of it, and fans quickly get attached to the characters. GTA 5 has often been held up as the best example of a movie, seeing as there are three main characters with different motives, and there are different endings to be had – spoiler alert if you, somehow, haven’t played it yet.

All that is without mentioning the backdrop of Vinewood – GTA’s parody of Hollywood – being a pretty natural fit for a movie.

GTA 5 actor talks about recasting for a movie

Well, speaking to Dexerto’s Fall Damage, Ned Luke has explained why he believes a movie would be better than a TV series.

“If they wanted to do GTA 5 right? Like you’ve have a six-episode, eight-episode season like they’re doing on Netflix now these days. I think it would be a better movie maybe,” the actor said.

“Then you got the trick of casting it and that kind of stuff. Do you use us? Do you go get one of those big-shot actors to play Michael? Who are you gonna get to play Trevor? You can’t play, nobody’s playing… Johnny Knoxville? Gimme a break.”

Luke suggested that Christian Bale could play Michael, but he’d want a shot of playing the character he’s come to be known as too.

“If I had to recast Michael with an actor, I think I would use the guy who was, who was that guy’s name that was Batman, Dark Knight,” he said. “But, I would beat him out for the part.”

There actually is a movie based around GTA titled ‘Grand Theft Hamlet’. It’s a reimagining of the iconic Shakespeare play, but in Grand Theft Auto Online.
