Ned Luke has been left baffled by fans comparing GTA 6 to GTA 5, arguing that character movement alone shows how far Rockstar’s technology has come.

Since the extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6 aired on Netflix, fans have been discussing how the game looks compared to previous Rockstar titles. While many were blown away by Vice City, others argued that the differences weren’t as clear.

But Ned Luke, the actor who played Michael De Santa in GTA 5, discussed the upcoming game during a video with Partychat and House of Highlights, and he thinks GTA 6 blows the developer’s past work out of the water.

“Sorry, guys, you’re wrong. The graphics here beat Red Dead,” he responded.

He was then asked about comparisons between GTA 5 and GTA 6, and he was adamant that the new game looks much better.

“This looks nothing like Grand Theft Auto 5. I think they’re out of their minds,” he said, before pointing a new protagonist Jason and adding: “I’ll tell you one thing: I never looked that good.”

To demonstrate the jump between the two games, Luke pointed to the way characters physically behave in the footage as a major difference.

“Watch the way the people move,” he said. “The walks are actual human walks. We still had a little bit of that mechanical thing going with our walks and the way we’d stand. For me, I felt like my legs were never fully straight. They always had this little bend in them.”

For Luke, these changes are a natural result of more powerful hardware released since GTA 5, as he compared it to Rockstar’s previous generational leap between GTA 4 and its sequel.

“The technology has grown by leaps and bounds, so what would make you think it’s not going to be better than those games?” he said. “It’s no diss to those games. It’s like between [GTA 5] and GTA 4. Our graphics blew GTA 4 away. They weren’t even close.”

Despite the visual upgrade, GTA 6 does take a number of features from RDR2, including Deadeye and the Honor system. Meanwhile, fans are already sure they’ve found a Dexter Easter egg in Vice City.
