A Grand Theft Auto modder has had his GTA 6 map struck down by Take-Two and Rockstar Games as he believes it ‘ruins’ the surprise for the new game.

When Rockstar Games revealed the first trailer for GTA 6 at the end of 2023, Grand Theft Auto fans expected information to start coming soon after. That hasn’t been the case whatsoever.

Instead, the Grand Theft Auto devs have stayed quiet, refusing to be drawn on rumors of a potential delay and that the end of 2025 release date slipping to 2026. Take-Two, their publishers, have done all the talking instead.

Amongst the silence, GTA fans have been going through the trailer, trying to find clues of what’s coming next. Some have even used the trailer to build a playable map that they believe is close to what Rockstar has planned.

However, as we inch closer to a possible reveal of trailer two, Rockstar and Take-Two have hit modder Dark Space with a takedown of his YouTube video.

Speaking to IGN, the GTA 5 map modder said: “I went into this project knowing it was a possibility, and the fact that it happened does not surprise me.

“I think my map could have ruined the surprise of their map, which I get. If you spent years building out this amazing game world just to have some YouTuber spoil the experience of the map’s shape, size, and vibe… I’d want it removed too.”

The modder believes that neither Take-Two nor Rockstar “want this project to exist,” so he’s removed download links for it.

He isn’t the only modder to suffer the wrath of the developers, however. A GTA IV remake was hit just after it wowed fans online. Many foresaw that happening to Dark Space’s project too.

Many Grand Theft Auto fans believe that April 1 is the day that Rockstar will drop the second trailer. However, that is April Fool’s Day, so it would be hard to trust.
