GTA 6 will use new loadout system instead of carrying unlimited weapons

GTA 6 looks set to limit the number of guns players can carry at any given time, marking a drastic change from previous games in the series.

After months of waiting, pre-orders for GTA 6 are finally live, revealing the price and editions. The ultimate edition costs $100 and features plenty of exclusive content, including the usual bonus items and even entire stores.

This upgraded version has also helped to reveal some crucial information about the game, such as the inclusion of story chapters like Red Dead Redemption 2.

Well, it seems that GTA 6 is taking more cues from its western counterpart, as it appears to limit how many guns you can carry at once.

In past GTA games, players have had infinitely deep pockets, capable of carrying an unlimited number of guns and grenades at once. We’ve become used to being one-man armies who can switch from an Assault Rifle to a Shotgun to an RPG at will.

But one of the bonuses in the ultimate edition is a garage with a “weapons locker” that lets you “customize your loadout for any occasion.”

This suggests Jason and Lucia won’t be able to carry everything on them at once, and we’ll have to decide which weapons to bring along.

It sounds similar to the way it worked in Red Dead Redemption 2, where Arthur could only carry a couple of handguns and then two large weapons, with the rest being stored on his horse. Every time he dismounted, players could select the best guns for the task at hand.

This was mainly to make RDR2 feel slower and more realistic, but it would be a major change for a GTA game, which is usually more about fast-paced carnage.

It remains to be seen how strict these limitations are compared to Red Dead, as there might be ways to carry more guns at once, either by default or unlocked later in the story. Rockstar has promised that marketing is set to ramp up this summer, so we shouldn’t have to wait long for a more in-depth breakdown.
