Firearms sales, according to the Firearm Industry Trade Association (NSSF, formerly the National Shooting Sports Foundation), jumped again in September. Violent crime, as reported by the FBI, fell precipitously last year to levels not seen since 2017.

The obvious connection: More private ownership of firearms in the country is translating into lower crime.

The NSSF reported on Wednesday that “adjusted NICS background check numbers — the best indicator for gun sales in America — have been higher for the last three months.” It’s not surprising as the November election draws ever closer. Said NSSF’s Mark Oliva:

The vice presidential debate offered a substantive examination of why Americans — by the millions each month — continue to lawfully purchase firearms. Americans are concerned for their safety and the safety of their loved ones. They [refuse] to be painted with the broad brush that gun control proponents use to paint them in the same patterns as criminals.

The fact is, Americans face a stark difference in the two tickets when it comes to respecting their Constitutional rights to keep and bear arms. America is demonstrating, month-after-month, that lawful gun ownership matters.

More Guns, Less Crime

In September the FBI reported that the murder rate in the country fell last year at the fastest rate ever recorded. This coincides with the 29 states in the country now allowing “constitutional carry” — the carrying of a concealed firearm without first being forced to obtain permission from the government.

Statistician Jeff Asher commented on the numbers released by the FBI:

The murder decline is the largest one-year decline ever recorded, besting a 9.1 percent decline in 1996. The 2023 murder decline combined with a large decline being seen so far in 2024 shows murder is falling faster than ever before recorded in the [United States].

The 3 percent decline in reported violent crime puts the national violent crime rate (363.8 per 100k) alongside 2014 (363.6 per 100k) as the lowest level of reported violent crime since the early 1970s.

This reflects that fact that there were 2,500 fewer murders in the country in 2023 than in the year earlier. And there were fewer rapes, property crimes, and other violent crimes committed last year than the year before. And, according to Asher, that trend is continuing into 2024.

This obvious connection between increasing ownership of firearms and the decrease in violent crime didn’t escape the notice of Dave Workman. Writing for Ammoland, Workman said: “The FBI’s national crime report for 2023 shows a record-breaking decline in murders during a year when the number of states adopting so-called ‘constitutional carry’ rose to 29, undercutting a popular — and obviously false — claim by the gun prohibition lobby that more guns result in more crime.”

The Harris Agenda

Kamala Harris continues to push the narrative that as a “gun owner” ready to shoot any intruders (who might somehow get past the armed Secret Service agents on duty around her property 24/7), she has no designs on confiscation.

However, the deliberately tone-deaf Marxist has made clear what she intends to do if by some chance (or fraud) she wins the White House. Her intentions were spelled out in crisp clarity by the anti-gun, anti-freedom news site The Trace:

As commander in chief, Harris would likely push for expanding background checks for all gun purchases and reinstating the federal ban on assault weapons.

She could also pursue tougher regulations on ghost guns, large-capacity ammunition magazines, and bump stocks.

Selwyn Duke, writing for The New American, reminded readers that Harris, while San Francisco’s district attorney, sponsored Proposition H which would have banned the city’s residents from possessing, distributing, or manufacturing handguns.

The Washington Examiner reminded its readers that Harris promised during her stillborn campaign for the presidency in 2020 that she “would give Congress 100 days” to pass the gun-control agenda she wanted, or she would institute that agenda on her own through executive orders.

Her agenda has nothing whatever to do with increasing safety or crime reduction. It remains the same as that of every Marxist dictator: disarm everyone.
