Halperin Says His ‘Best Sources Are Saying’ DeSantis Will ‘Likely’ Replace Hegseth As Trump’s Defense Secretary Pick

Political analyst Mark Halperin said Thursday that his “best sources” suggest that President-elect Donald Trump will probably replace his defense secretary pick Pete Hegseth with Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the coming days.
CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten asserted Wednesday that a small “miracle” would be required for Hegseth to secure Senate confirmation, noting the betting odds for his confirmation have dropped below those of Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz when he withdrew from consideration to be attorney general.
Halperin, on “Wake Up America,” also acknowledged the challenges Hegseth faces in getting confirmed, suggesting Trump may announce DeSantis as his new pick “by the weekend.”

Was Halperin a DeSantis supporter during the primaries?

Misandrist hacks like Ernst, Murkowski and Collins will vote against Hegseth. They’ll believe any accusations made against a white male by a female “me tooer”.

This is a bald-faced lie to try and demoralize Trump supporters.

I hope that this isn’t true. DeSantis has been a great governor and needs to continue serving as such. He will make a great President some day. If he takes this role, his head is potentially on the chopping block. Not a good move, in my opinion.

Or someone deeply connnected to democrat strategy or deep state machinations. In other words, this is more of a press release than some sort of legit 'leak'.

No reason to replace him. If we keep caving to the swamp Trump is going to end up surrounded by said swamp

I don’t know, but his sources nailed the Biden drop-out timing to the exact day.

Not sure he should give up being governor. It may be a better place for him. Unless the lt gov is a great strong conservative as well and ready for the big chair.

HELL NO!!!!!!! If Trump throws in the towel then I can safely say that the rest of his cabinet nominees are sunk. Because of six REPUBLICAN senators they will have neutered Trump even before he starts his term. They are showing him who’s the boss at the capital this is a power struggle UFC match that Trump HAS TO WIN!!! If he does not stick up for Pete then his base will be sorely disappointed. If he cannot fight for these candidates how is he gonna be able to manage a fight with those evil rats and RINOS.

I’d rather him stay in Florida. So we get a Sec Def but lose a VERY good Governor? Not a good trade.
Put someone like Allan West or Lt Col Matt Lohmeier in that seat.
