The Hamas-tied Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has just honored outgoing Congressman Jamaal Bowman. Bowman is a peculiar sort; for years he was a conspiracy theorist on social media, focusing on the “real” malefactors behind the 9/11 attacks. Then he decided to focus his ire on the Jewish state. Bowman has accused Israel of practicing apartheid, and committing genocide, and he wants to end American military support for the Jewish state. This has won him CAIR’s abiding affection.
Jamaal Bowman, who clearly has only the weakest grip on the facts and tends to see everything through his own ideological blinkers, has accused Israel of promoting “white supremacy.” He no doubt is unaware that more than half of Israel’s population consists of Mizrahi Jews from Arab countries, who are just as dark as the Palestinians. And the Ethiopian Jews, or Falashas, who are now in Israel, are even darker than the Arabs.
As for Bowman’s accusation that Israel practices “apartheid,” it’s one more absurdity. In Israel, Arabs sit on the Supreme Court, serve in the Knesset, go abroad as diplomats. The former head of Israel’s largest bank, Bank Leumi, was an Arab. Jews and Arabs work in the same offices and factories, play on the same sports teams and orchestras, are treated in the same hospitals by both Jewish and Arab medical personnel. They go into business together, everything from restaurants to tech start-ups. The Israeli Arabs have full civil, political, and religious rights. The only difference is that Israeli Jews must, while Israeli Arabs may, serve in the military. Jamaal Bowman apparently knows none of this.

More on CAIR’s honoring Bowman can be found here.
In a last-ditch attempt to coalesce progressive support around his floundering reelection campaign, Bowman vowed to vote against US funding for Israel’s vaunted Iron Dome air defense system. Bowman’s effort proved insufficient, as he lost to Westchester County executive George Latimer by a double-digit margin.
In vowing to vote against funding for Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, Bowman showed himself willing to deprive Israel of an essential item for its defense, an anti-missile system that has saved thousands of lives of both Israeli Jews and Israeli Arabs.
CAIR’s Nihad Awad declared himself “happy” with the attack on October 7, 2023. He called Gaza a “concentration camp,” though there had not been a single Israeli in Gaza since 2005. The real concentration camp guards in Gaza are members of Hamas, who have held the people in thrall, stolen much of the aid money meant for them, and murdered anyone who dared to publicly dissent from their rule.
“Walk free into their land” is Nihad Awad’s way of describing the attack of October 7, 2023, when 3,800 members of Hamas and 2,200 Gazan civilians who enthusiastically joined in the fun, smashed into Israel and proceeded to pillage, rape, torture, mutilate, and murder 1,200 Israelis, and to take 251 hostages back to Gaza. That is what made Nihad Awad “happy.” That is what he describes as people “throwing down the shackles of their own land.” The “land” he is referring to is Israel itself.
According to Awad and CAIR’s Hussam Ayloush, Israel must simply accept the blows inflicted by Hamas without fighting back. Because it exists on “stolen Palestinian land,” Israel has no right to defend itself against Palestinians who are attacking it. And as for the attack on October 7, Ayloush claims that Palestinians have suffered similar attacks every single day since May 14, 1948, when the state of Israel was declared. Really? Do you know of a single case where Israelis have engaged in the mass rape, torture, mutilation, and murder of Palestinians? No, I thought not.
CAIR and Jamaal Bowman deserve one another. It’s a marriage made in heaven. Both are supporters of Hamas. Both know that Israel is guilty of “genocide” and practices “apartheid,” and that they need no proof to support either self-evident claim. Both are “happy” with the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. Both know that Israel has no right to defend itself against the terrorist onslaughts launched against it by Hamas. No wonder Jamaal Bowman was chosen by CAIR to receive its 2024 Champion of Justice award. And since he is about to be unemployed, possibly CAIR can give him a job doing outreach for the group among black men in New York City. He’d be perfect for the job.
