HART: Getting Our Fiscal House In Order: No Pain, No Gain

When you have wasted money for years and built all these entitled agencies that are accountable to no one for their spending, it will be hard to reverse the practice. We spend $2 trillion a year more than we take in. We are $37 trillion in debt. DOGE must be done. 

The government runs its finances like my broke Drunkle Mac. He told me that his credit score was so low, he had to show an ID to pay cash for something. 

It will not be easy. Nothing good is. But if you watched the interview of DOGE members with Bret Baier on Fox, you realized that the DOGE members are not 20-year-olds named “Big Balls” in hoodies, as the media have intimated. These are very smart and accomplished patriots who left their companies (leaving much money behind) to come to Washington to clean things up for the country. This reminds me of an old joke. Two farmers are suffering through a severe downturn. One says to the other, “I cannot afford to feed my hound dog anymore. I just do not know what to do.” The second farmer said, “I have the same problem, couldn’t afford to feed my dog in these hard times, so I started feeding him poke salad. It grows wild in the field; it is nutritious and plentiful.” The first farmer says, “I couldn’t do that, my dog would not eat Polk salad.” The second farmer said, “You know, mine wouldn’t either the first few days.”

The Democrats are the angriest they have been since the Republicans made them free their slaves. They have no policy ideas; they just whine and hiss at everything Trump does.  They are jaundiced and they wish Trump such ill.  They are the types who would go out to an airport and boo safe landings. 

All the Dems seem to have are anger and keying Teslas. “Mad” is not a strategy. It is “ad”; the Anger Management Classroom at Democrat headquarters in D.C. is down for repairs to the drywall. 

The “Takedown Tesla” Saturday protest day was a clown show. Paid protestors danced and burned Teslas in “resistance” to Elon Musk’s DOGE efforts. I would have gone, but my great-great-grandmother’s Social Security check came and I had to go cash it at my liquor store.

Dems say DOGE is indiscriminately slashing departments and firing people. Another lie. So far RIF (Reduction in Force) job cuts are just .15 of 1 percent of the federal workforce. 

DOGE’s goal is to make government more efficient — for all of us. And if you love government like the Dems do, you should be in support of saving it. Dems view government like they feel they own it. Republicans get to use it every four to eight years, but it is theirs, so don’t touch it. It is their honey hole. 

Members of Congress do not worry about their pay being cut. They are protected by the Americans with No Abilities Act.

There is so much waste in Congress. Each chamber of Congress has its own chaplain who makes $162,000 per year. As far as jobs go, only mind readers in Hollywood have less to do all day. 

Liberal Dems do not get economics. If they did, they would not tax and spend.

Sen. Rand Paul (the OG of DOGE) has been pointing out spending excesses for years. Federal researchers spent millions using seized cocaine (leftover from DEA raids) and putting it in quails’ bird food to see what the birds did. Liberal elites from New York City to Hollywood did not get it and kept doubting the results, saying there is no such thing as leftover cocaine! The Trump tariffs are supposed to hit soon. His notion is that, with equal tariffs, European car companies will start making cars here rather than making them in Europe, then paying the tariff and shipping them here. These things do not happen fast. A car manufacturing plant takes time to build. But with tariffs, Mexico and China got the message and announced that they will build their next fentanyl plant here in the USA.

If we can endure the short-term pain, it will be good for all of us. We can reduce this looming debt bomb, and the economy will grow back faster than Elon’s hairline after he sold his first company for millions.
