Hatsune Miku is officially heading to the Persona series, with the iconic Vocaloid set to join the Joker and the gang as part of a new anniversary celebration.
Persona 5: The Phantom X, also known as P5X by fans, is holding its first anniversary this year, and boy, is it kicking things off in style.
One of the most hyped announcements was the reveal that twin-tailed Vocaloid star, Hatsune Miku, will be returning to the Persona series.
While the devs have remained tight-lipped when it comes to the role she’ll play in the Phantom Thieves’ bad guy beatdowns, the devs have released a teaser trailer showing off Miku alongside the game’s protagonist, Nagisa Kamishiro.
Miku joins Persona cast in new anniversary update
During the trailer, we get confirmation that Kamishiro is a Vocaloid fan as he’s shown listening to DECO*27’s Ghost Rule (he has good taste), before going on a hunt for shadows.
Miku appears across a variety of TV screens across the city, before hosting what appears to be a live concert in the Metaverse? It’s all pretty cool, and as you’d expect, fans are absolutely loving it.
“This means that, canonically, the Phantom Thieves have Hatsune Miku songs on their phones. We know a bit more about their music taste now,” wrote one commenter. “Dude, this is so awesome, there’s no way I’m not getting her,” replied another.
This isn’t the first time that the virtual idol has graced the Persona series, as eagle-eyed fans will notice that her design is the same one that appeared in the P4 rhythm game Persona 4: Dancing All Night.
According to the devs, we’ll get to see more from the Miku x P5X collab on June 18, 12:00 PM (UTC), so we won’t have long to wait before all is revealed. Of course, you can never have too many Miku collabs, and her appearance in P5X isn’t even the wildest one this year.
Back in April, we covered a special edition glow-in-the-dark Hatsune Miku fishing rod, while Forza Horizon 6 fans are already making plenty of Miku-themed sports cars. Hell, there’s even a Miku bathhouse collab where you can soak up in themed baths and enjoy a variety of exclusive merchandise.
