Hegseth Demolishes Democrat Hirono for Attack Citing Debunked Anonymous Reports

Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Defense Secretary, set the record straight after Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) cited thoroughly refuted anonymous reports claiming he drank on the job at Fox News.
Hirono used her time during Hegseth’s confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee to peddle the anonymous reports, which a multitude of Hegseth’s former coworkers at Fox News have refuted on record.
“I have read multiple reports of your regularly being drunk at work, including by people who worked with you at Fox News. Do you know that being drunk at work is prohibited for service members under the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice)?” Hirono asked Hegseth, presenting him with only a “yes or no” option seemingly designed to prevent him from pushing back on the anonymous allegations.
“Senator–” Hegseth began before Hirono immediately cut him off, directing him to answer “yes or no.”

Hirono was reading verbatim (and badly), from a sheet, probably written by a. low-level staffer, a ridiculous list of anonymous charges no one has ever been able to verify

I think that each state should have a panel made up of state GOP and DNC members (like the Senate Committees) whose job it is to have hearings for all senate candidates from their state. It would be run like the Senate confirmation hearings, televised and done in place of debates which do nothing but give the media a chance to hurt Republicans. The hearings would be used to question the senate candidates just like the Senate hearings and the vote of the citizens of the state would be the final result. Seems it would make more sense than the gotcha questions by the media during debates. This would only be in place of getting rid of 17th Amendment and going back to the states selecting their senators as originally designed. With the 17th, states are no longer represented in Congress as they should be
