The homes of former Hong Kong police chief Andy Tsang Wai-hung and his neighbour were burgled within 24 hours, with more than HK$400,000 (US$51,464) in cash and valuables stolen, the Post has learned.

The two breaks-in at high-end residential estate Hong Lok Yuen in Tai Po were discovered on Sunday and Monday, prompting the force to enhance security in the district.

Officers were called to the Tsang’s house at around 11.45pm on Sunday after he and his wife returned home and found the premises had been burgled.

The Post learned on Tuesday that more than HK$100,000 in cash, watches and jewellery were stolen from his house.

The former police commissioner said on Monday night that he called police after he discovered the burglary when he returned home with his family on Sunday night.

“Certain belongings were found to be missing after he checked, including a small amount of jewellery, watches and cash,” Tsang said.
