* Honda issued a recall that covers 720,810 vehicles due to a potential issue with the fuel pump.

* The production issue may lead to cracks forming on the solenoid component of the fuel pump, which could cause a fuel leak and potentially a fire.

* The recall affects 2023–2024 Accord and Accord Hybrid, the 2025 Civic and Civic Hybrid, and the 2023–2025 CR-V Hybrid.

Honda ordered a recall of 720,810 vehicles that may have defective fuel pumps. Documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) state that the recall affects the 2023–2024 Accord and Accord Hybrid, the 2025 Civic and Civic Hybrid, and the 2023–2025 CR-V Hybrid.

According to the NHTSA documents, the problem stems from a production issue that may lead to cracks forming on the solenoid core component of the fuel pump, which could result in a fuel leak and potential fire. The production issue reportedly arose due to machined chips between the cutting tool and the fuel pump creating excessive torque and leading to cracking in the solenoid. The NHTSA documents also state the smell of fuel when driving or idling may warn drivers of the issue.

Honda will contact the owners of all affected vehicles and ask them to bring their vehicles to authorized dealers who will inspect and replace fuel pumps as necessary. The replacement parts feature solenoid components with improved dimensions, inner diameter machining, and baking conditions. Owners who paid out of pocket to have their vehicle's fuel pump replaced may be eligible for reimbursement, according to the NHTSA documents. Honda earlier this month began notifying dealerships of the recall, and it plans to reach out to affected owners starting on December 4.
