Hong Kong education authorities have raised concerns over two online posts showing two secondary students, dressed in their uniforms, smoking and vaping.

The posts showing students from AD&FD POHL Leung Sing Tak College in Tsuen Wan went viral on Wednesday after they were published on Threads, a microblogging platform launched by Meta.

The first post, titled “The mental state of Hong Kong junior high school students”, featured two photos of a girl smoking a cigarette in a stairwell, with a bottle of alcoholic drink placed next to her.

The other post was a video of several boys in a toilet cubicle, one of whom is seen vaping. All of them were wearing AD&FD POHL school uniforms.

The Education Bureau said it was “very concerned”, adding it had immediately contacted the school to follow up on the incident.

“We have learned that the school is investigating the incident and will follow up based on the school’s disciplinary mechanism. It will also step up its efforts in building students’ correct values and behaviours,” it added.

The bureau also said it would keep in touch with the school to offer suitable advice and support.
