A Hong Kong court has granted bail to an IT manager accused of stealing nearly 400 computers worth HK$2.8 million (US$347,188) from a multinational audit firm.
Ho Man-kit, 38, appeared in Eastern Court on Tuesday over a count of theft. Between September 1, 2021 and February 13, 2023, the defendant allegedly stole 399 laptops from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu’s Taikoo Shing office.
According to the court document available for press inspection, the devices are believed to be worth more than HK$2.79 million.
The prosecution did not require Ho to enter a plea at this stage and asked the court to allow more time for police investigation and legal advice from the Department of Justice.
Presiding magistrate Don So Man-lung adjourned the next hearing to April 28 after he granted bail to Ho.
