A Hong Kong plumber has died while working on a repair project contracted by the Drainage Services Department, after he was reportedly struck by a large water pipe.
Police have classified the case as an industrial accident.
The incident happened on Monday morning while the man was offloading water pipes from a crane truck at a construction site near Man Kok Village in Sheung Shui, the northern part of the New Territories, according to initial investigations.
The project, contracted by the Drainage Services Department, involved repairing an underground stormwater drain, according to local media.
Wooden supports used to stabilise the pipes became loose, causing the pipes to roll down and hit the victim on the head.
