Hong Kong police are investigating a case in which two cats are suspected to have fallen from height at a public estate, with one confirmed dead at the scene.

The force said on Friday that it received a report from a security guard from Heng Kin House of Tin Heng Estate in Tin Shui Wai at 2.50am, saying two cats were suspected of falling from height.

“Upon arriving at the scene, officers found one dead cat and another still alive. After initial investigation, the case is listed as cruelty to animals,” police said.

The case is being handled by the Yuen Long district investigation team and no arrests have been made so far.

According to police, the cat which was confirmed dead was a two-year-old female Siamese, while the other who survived with injuries was a two-year-old ragdoll.

Staff from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were called to the scene and took the injured cat for medical treatment. They also took away the dead cat.
