Hong Kong’s Lion Rock Tunnel was partially closed to traffic on Friday afternoon after a container truck heading south towards Kowloon caught fire.
A source said the truck had just exited the 1.4km tunnel near Kowloon Tong at around 3.39pm when another driver noticed the blaze.
When police arrived, they found that the rear of the truck was on fire.
Fire services extinguished the blaze at around 3.50pm, the source said.
The Kowloon-bound fast lane remained closed to all traffic, the Transport Department said. The slow lane had reopened to all traffic, it said.
The department said Tsim Sha Tsui-bound motorists could not enter Waterloo Road via the tunnel. Motorists had to divert to Kwun Tong-bound Lung Cheung Road.
