Hong Kong’s Ocean Park has said its upper park will be shut down until further notice after it was forced to suspend cable car rides due to signal issues.

The Summit, or upper park, was closed after the signal malfunction occurred on Wednesday morning. A thorough inspection of the rides between the Summit and the Waterfront, or lower park, is under way to ensure visitors’ safety, according to the theme park.

The Summit and Waterfront are separated by a mountain and connected by the cable car system and an “Ocean Express” train.

“As the Ocean Express is undergoing an annual inspection, transport services between the Summit and Waterfront will be suspended until further notice,” the park said. “We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The Park said visitors could still visit its facilities at its lower park, which was accessible by public and private transport.
