A famous sauce company has set up a large signboard to celebrate the 100th day of the birth of Hong Kong’s two panda cubs, as registration for a promotional pork giveaway marking the twins’ birth drew to a close.

The sign, built in the style of traditional flower plaques used to celebrate Chinese festivals or events, was placed outside Pat Chun store in Mong Kok on Wednesday, with congratulatory messages to the city’s first locally born panda cubs and images of the company’s products.

The company earlier announced its promotion on August 21, in which it would give away a four-person serving of pork trotters stewed in ginger and vinegar to parents of male and female twins born in the city between May 15 and August 16.

Two families have so far received the promotional treat, while the registration for the giveaway closed on Wednesday.

In Chinese families, pork trotters are traditionally served to celebrate the first month of an infant’s birth.
