Hong Kong can expect frost on high grounds and in the northern part of the New Territories on Sunday, the city’s weather forecaster has warned.
The Hong Kong Observatory issued frost warnings on Saturday at 7.45am and 4.30pm, calling for farmers and other members of the public to prepare for the likelihood of ground frost in these areas.
Cold weather warnings were issued at 6am and 4.20pm. The Observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 11.5 degrees Celsius (52.7 Fahrenheit) on Saturday, the lowest since the winter season began.
According to the forecast, Sunday is expected to be cold with a minimum temperature of about 11 degrees in urban areas, while the mercury will be significantly lower over parts of the New Territories and on high ground. The maximum temperature will be 18 degrees.
“An intense winter monsoon would continue to affect the coast of southern China tomorrow,” the Observatory said.
