A 34-year-old woman's distraught family is demanding answers after discovering disturbing social media videos that allegedly show a stranger sleeping and eating next to her body – days before he alerted cops.
Brittany Gamble, who struggled with diabetes and epilepsy, mysteriously vanished without a trace after she was discharged from a hospital in Houston, Texas, last November.
Her disappearance set off a grim chain of events that ended with her body being discovered in Dennis Greer's apartment eight days later.
While cops probed the case at the time, they ultimately ended up nixing the investigation – allegedly claiming they were short staffed and 'inundated with murders' – leaving her devastated family grappling with more questions than answers.
Now, the Daily Mail can reveal police have quietly reopened the case, just a month after unexpectedly slamming it shut.
The ordeal started when Gamble was discharged from St Joseph's Medical Center at about 9pm on November 19 after being treated for diabetic ketoacidosis.
Her body was discovered inside the Houston-area apartment of 45-year-old Dennis Greer on November 27 after he called 911.
Gamble was found with cuts and bruises on her upper back, bleeding beneath the skin, bruising along her left arm and multiple abrasions and discolorations on her right hand, according to a medical examiner's report obtained by the Daily Mail.

Gamble's family say Greer posted footage online of himself with cotton balls stuffed up his nose around the same time her body was decomposing in his apartment
The medical examiner also confirmed law enforcement observed what appeared to be blood on Greer's clothing and hands and in multiple locations inside his apartment.
An apparent odor of cleaning products was also noted at the scene, according to the report.
Still, the Harris County Medical Examiner listed her cause of death as 'undetermined.' It noted that the exact time she was last known to be alive remained unknown 'due to conflicting stories.'
While her death was ruled as unexplained, the medical examiner wrote that the 'circumstances remained suspicious and foul play could not be completely ruled out.'
They concluded that the cause and manner of death 'may be re-evaluated and appropriately amended' should additional pertinent information become available.
Now, Gamble's relatives claim the trove of Facebook videos Greer posted online in the days before the grim discovery should warrant further investigation.
'He went grocery shopping, he ate beside her, drinking beside her,' her older sister Rebekah Falke told the Daily Mail of the footage Greer shared.
'No one in their right mind would ever look at this and think that this is normal behavior.'
The footage – which is too gory for the Daily Mail to publish – has since disappeared from Facebook. It appears to capture Gamble's body in Greer's apartment at least two days before he contacted authorities.
Her relatives allege Greer calmly carried on with daily life while her body was in the apartment.
'He would walk around with cotton balls up his nose,' Falke said. 'I would assume that that was being done because my sister was decomposing in his apartment.
'There is a four hour video of him sleeping on the same mattress next to my sister's deceased body.'

She also alleged Greer 'repositioned her body repeatedly on an air mattress' and 'wrapped and unwrapped her deceased body.'
'All of this happened after she was gone,' Falke added. 'All of this was posted publicly.'
Falke described Greer's behavior in the videos as erratic and paranoid. At one point, Gamble even asked to leave while on camera.
'He had him and her barricaded into his home,' Falke said. 'He believed people were trying to break in or coming through the walls or listening through the walls.'
After reviewing the footage, the family believes Gamble died on November 21, with Greer capturing her last moments on camera.
'In one video, this man is heard yelling at her to "breathe", and you hear her gasp in the background,' Falke said. 'Brittany is not seen alive in any videos after this point.'
Falke said the family discovered the videos themselves when they were desperately trying to retrace Gamble's final movements after she stopped contacting relatives shortly before Thanksgiving.
Police believe Gamble first encountered Greer at a bus station shortly after leaving the hospital the night she was discharged.
Gamble's family say detectives told them Greer had initially approached her believing she was somebody else.
'This man did not know my sister and my sister did not know him,' Falke said.
Greer later admitted to authorities that he had brought Gamble back to his apartment where she appeared in a series of Facebook Live videos over several days.
He was never arrested and no charges have been filed in relation to Gamble's death.
Gamble had only just recently moved to Houston after leaving an abusive relationship before she she died, according to her family
Investigators closed the case last month, allegedly telling the family the department was 'short staffed' and 'inundated with murders' – and that there is 'nothing that would hold up in court.'
'We were told the harshest charges would be pursued. Then came silence. And then we are told nothing will hold up,' Falke said.
'We have seen things no family should ever have to see. We have heard things no loved one should ever have to hear.
'The justice system and the medical system have failed Brittany.'
'We have been met with excuse after excuse. Silence after silence,' she added. 'My sister is not a case number. She is a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a friend.'
Police, however, have since reactivated the case.
The reversal came after the Daily Mail submitted Freedom of Information requests and other inquiries to the department, none of which received a response.
A police spokesperson said investigators had been constantly reviewing the evidence which resulted in the reopening of the case.
But Falke was skeptical of the official explanation. 'We are pleased, but they only reopened it due to pressure,' she told the Daily Mail.
'They are requesting all of the evidence that we as a family have, which doesn't make sense if they did actually subpoena all of the videos from Meta.
'Communication with Houston Police Department continues to be subpar.'
Greer was previously charged with murder over the 2013 death of 22-year-old Jonequa Brewster, whose body was found dumped in a ditch after she was shot in the head.
However, the murder charge was dismissed, with court documents obtained by the Daily Mail showing that prosecutors reserved the right to 'refile at a later date.'
He was later convicted of interference with a human corpse in that case, serving seven years behind bars.
His criminal record stretches back decades and includes a string of arrests and charges involving drugs, burglary, theft, resisting arrest, assault and weapons-related offenses.
Court records also show prior felony allegations including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest with a motor vehicle and possession with intent to deliver cocaine.
Greer did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Mail.
Gamble's family, meanwhile, are still struggling to come to terms with her death.
Falke described her younger sister as 'a gentle individual and a beautiful soul' who had struggled with health issues from early childhood.
'Life was not very kind to her, but she would do anything for anyone,' Falke said, adding that her sister was 'very gullible, and people sometimes would take advantage of that.'
She had only just recently moved to Houston after leaving an abusive relationship in Taylor, Texas, where her family is based.
