James Van Der Beek gave ex-wife Heather McComb’s new marriage his blessing before losing his battle to cancer in February.
The actress, who married Scott Michael Campbell on May 30, spoke with her former spouse about the planned nuptials during their “beautiful” last conversation, she revealed to Us Weekly on Tuesday.
“James and [his wife], Kimberly [Van Der Beek], both knew that Scott and I were getting married,” the bride told the outlet. “They both were so full of love and support and excitement.”
McComb, notably, was married to James between 2003 and 2010 — and “to have his blessing” before walking down the aisle again was “something that [she] will always hold in [her] heart.”
The 49-year-old went on to gush about the “beautiful” way the “Varsity Blues” star “loved others … especially Kimberly” and their six children.
“I know that James would want me to celebrate our love, just like he celebrated the love that he had for Kimberly, which was so beautiful,” she said.
McComb felt “all the people [she and Campbell] lost” at their ceremony last month.
“I know we had a lot of people up in heaven shining on us that day,” she recalled. “It was magical in the sense that we saw a double rainbow, two ladybugs and two white doves… We honor everybody who wasn’t there that day.”
When Van Der Beek passed away, McComb posted a touching tribute of throwback photos via Instagram.
This is a developing story…
