The Shattered Veil map has arrived in Black Ops 6 Zombies, meaning there’s another main story Easter egg hunt underway. If you’re struggling to complete it, we’ve got a breakdown of everything you need to do.
Zombies players have been spoiled when it comes to content in Black Ops 6, with new maps coming at a rapid pace. Each one comes with a fresh set of Wonder Weapons and, of course, a complex Easter egg to solve with your team.
After doing walkthroughs of Liberty Falls and Terminus at launch and Citadelle des Morts and The Tomb in later seasons, it’s time for another in Season 3. So, here’s how to complete the Shattered Veil Easter egg from start to finish.
Activate the Pack-a-Punch
The first step of the main story is to activate the Pack-a-Punch machine, which you can do by following the orange objective markers. But before you do, we recommend fully exploring the mansion and opening up as many doors as possible so that you can move around freely later on without having to stop and spend Essence.
We’ve got a full guide on how to access the Pack-a-Punch machine from there, so check it out to progress to the next step.
Get the Ray Gun Mk 2

The Ray Gun Mk 2 is essential for completing the Shattered Veil Easter egg, and there are a couple of ways to get hold of it.
One is by visiting the Random Box and getting lucky, and you can pop a Wunderbar GobbleGum to improve your odds. However, the second method leaves nothing up to chance.
How to get Ray Gun on Shattered Veil
- Reach level 10 and defeat the Lab Technician zombie.
- Pick up the Floppy Disk he drops and take it to the fax machine.
- The fax machine prints a document containing a four-letter word.
- Use this word to find a code from the chalkboard in the nursery.
- Use the code to free the Doppelghast in the service tunnel.
- Pick up its Severed Arm and take it to the Armory in the service tunnel.
- Interact with the fingerprint scanner to drop the Ray Gun.
Once you hit level 10, if you’re in the underground mainframe area, eventually, a Lab Technician zombie will attack you. Take him out, and he’ll drop a glowing gold Floppy Disk for you to pick up.
From there, head to the foyer near the giant T-Rex skeleton, and you’ll spot a fax machine next to the computer. Insert the Floppy Disk, and the machine starts slowly printing a piece of paper with “Project Janus” written on it.
While it prints, a host of Vermin will start attacking you, so you’ll need to hold them off until the process is complete.
Pick up the paper, and a text prompt will appear that gives you a four-letter word in capital letters. There are four different words that it can be, and only the one that appears in your game will work, but these are the possibilities:
- Moth
- Crab
- Yeti
- Worm
With the word firmly in your memory, head to the nursery and find the chalkboard. Here, you’ll need to use that word to find a four-digit numerical code.
To do this, find the first letter of your word and count how many other letters are in that group. This gives you the first number of the code. For example, in the image below, if your word was “Yeti,” the first digit would be 3, as the letter Y is a group of three letters.

Follow this method to find the code, which will be unique in every run, and head down to the service tunnels. A Doppelghast is trapped behind a glass door with a keypad next to it, so enter the code into the keypad and take it out.
Once defeated, it will drop a Severed Arm that you must pick up and take to the Armory within the Supply Depot, which can be found through the service tunnels. Inside, the Ray Gun can be seen behind a glass display case. Use the arm to activate the fingerprint scanner next to it, and the Wonder Weapon will be yours to pick up.
Upgrade Ray Gun
The next step requires you to unlock three different upgrades for the Ray Gun Mk 2, but first, you’ll need empty canisters. There are three different methods of getting one:
- Shoot blue crystals hanging from the roof (not every crystal will drop a canister).
- Throw an LT-53 Kazimir into the window below Double Tap machine.
- Use Combat Axes to hit the valves and pipes in the service, filling up the mainframe chamber with gas. Then, break the chamber with an explosive.
Once you have all the canisters, you will need to complete three separate mini-missions to earn each variant. You can check out our guide on how to get every Ray Gun Mk 2 upgrade here.
Rituals
Now that you have all three Ray Gun upgrades, we can get into the meat of the Shattered Veil Easter egg. Each variant has a specific ritual tied to it that you must complete to unlock the final boss and reach the end of the story.
The good news is that they’re fairly easy to do, so here’s a step-by-step guide on each one.
Ray Gun Mk 2-R
- Head back to the library and interact with the computer.
- This starts an objective where you need to kill zombies with the Ray Gun Mk 2-R.
- After you have defeated enough zombies, a portal will appear, taking you to the Liminal Library.
- A ghost named Colton will give you clues to find four parts.
- Head to the locations he describes and use Aether Shroud to collect them.
- Go back into the normal library and three books will be glowing on the shelf.
- You need to interact with them in a specific order, but you can use trial and error to find the right combination.
- When each book glows blue, a secret door will open.
- Head inside to pick up a Nuclear Plant Inspection Report.
- Go back into the Liminal Library and interact with the podium.
- This triggers a fight with a boss, who has a shield that can only be broken with the Ray Gun Mk 2-R.
- Defeat the elite zombie, and this step is complete.

When inside the Limial Library, the four parts will be in different locations for every player. So, it’s vital that you listen to the clues given by Colton, otherwise, you’ll find yourself wandering around aimlessly trying to find each one.
The boss fight that ends this section of the Easter egg is tough if you don’t have upgraded weapons. At least one of your squad should focus on hitting the main enemy with the Ray Gun to lower its shield, which opens it up to huge damage.
Meanwhile, depending on the size of your squad, one of you is better off concentrating on the regular zombies to prevent you from getting overwhelmed. In a fairly small room, this will buy you valuable breathing space.
Ray Gun Mk 2-P
- Go to the Banquet Hall and interact with the computer.
- This triggers an encounter where you need to kill zombies with the Ray Gun Mk 2-P.
- Defeating enough within the time limit opens another portal, this time to the Liminal Banquet Hall.
- Grab the Ritual Elixir from the end of the table.
- Next, find three cups scattered around the map in the following locations:
- In the Bottlery
- At the Garden Pond on a bench.
- On a bench in the Overlook.
- Interacting with each one spawns an Elder Disciple that needs to be taken out.
- Once all three are defeated, go back to the Liminal Banquet Hall and three numbers will be written on the wall.
- This is a code that can be entered into the safe in West Hallways.
- Crack it open to find the Antler Carving.
- Go back to the Liminal Banquet Hall and interact with the podium once again.
- This triggers a second encounter against an elite boss, this time with a shield that can only be penetrated by the Ray Gun Mk 2-P.
- Take him down and step two is complete.
Ray Gun Mk 2-W
The Ray Gun Mk 2-W ritual functions exactly the same as the previous two, but it takes a little bit more work to start.
First of all, head to the Banquet Hall, and you’ll find a Sconce in a cardboard box close to the entrance; pick it up and head back to the Grand Foyer. Next to the Jugger-nog machine, you’ll see a single Sconce on the wall, with an empty space opposite it. Place the Sconce you collected on the wall, and one of them will begin to flash. When it’s done, approach it and press interact to copy the pattern.

Doing this three times opens a secret door to the Distillery. From here, the process is virtually identical to the other three rituals:
- Interact with the computer and use the Ray Gun Mk 2-W to defeat enemies.
- Once complete, head through a portal into the Liminal Distillery.
- Inside, a ghost will ask you to track down the Nightcap Flask.
- First, make sure you have Brain Rot equipped on your weapon by visiting an Arsenal machine. This can be done to your regular gun, not the Ray Gun.
- Then, head to the Study and pick up the Bell in the broken glass cabinet on the wall.
- Go to the Overlook and place the bell on the counter.
- Hit a zombie with Brain Rot and ring the bell, which will cause them to vault over the bar and drink from the Nightcap Flask.
- Afterward, pick it up and head back to the Liminal Distillery and place it on the podium.
- This triggers a third boss fight, again tasking you with using the Ray Gun Mk 2-W to break the zombie’s shield.
- Surviving this encounter fully charges the Sentinel Artifact, and you’re ready to start the final fight.
Final boss fight
How to prepare
As expected, the final boss fight is one of the toughest that Black Ops 6 Zombies has to offer, but it’s not quite as difficult as The Tomb’s finale at launch. Still, it’s best to go in with all of the points, items, and ammo you might need.
Anything less than triple Pack-a-Punched weapons will leave you at a major disadvantage, so be sure to upgrade them first. This includes any or all of the Ray Gun variants, which can be extremely useful for hitting the boss’s weak points.
If possible, the Wunderwaffe DG-2 would also be perfect, it makes dealing with the large hordes of smaller zombies a breeze. This can only be picked up from the Mystery Box, though, so there’s no guarantee.
It’s also best to stock up on powerful Scorstreaks, such as Chopper Gunners and Mutant Injections, as these can bail you out if you start to get overwhelmed.
How to start

If you’re ready to begin, go back down to the Mainframe Chamber and place the Sentinel Artifact into the machine in front of S.A.M. This triggers a full cutscene and transports you outside of the mansion, where you go head-to-head with a giant dinosaur called the Z-Rex. Yes, you read that right.
How to beat
The Z-Rex has clear weak points that you should target, which are marked by their distinct green glow: the eyes, the mouth when it spits acid, and the ribcage, which is exposed at various points during the fight.
Hitting this deals the most damage, but any direct hits on the body will also do a small amount of damage, so don’t worry about only hitting these spots. It can also be damaged at any time, so you don’t have to wait for any specific windows; just keep unloading whenever you can.
The fight has four different phases, but none of them mix things up in any drastic ways. The only differences are that sometimes it’ll jump onto the side of the cliff and spray acid from above, and towards the end, it’ll break out a charge attack and an aerial jump.
In later phases, the Z-Rex’s movements will also become much faster and more aggressive, making it tougher to predict the next move. But as long as you keep your concentration, stay on the move, and slide away from the attacks when they come, you should have no problems taking it down.
Whittle down its health bar, and that’s it; you’ve completed the Shattered Veil Easter egg in Black Ops 6 Zombies.
