Manchester United summer signing Leny Yoro has returned to first-team training after spending the opening three months of the season sidelined by injury.

The £52m acquisition from Lille sustained a serious foot problem during United's pre-season friendly against Arsenal on the club's US tour. Yoro underwent surgery to correct the issue which has delayed his anticipated competitive debut.

After posting a positive update on social media last month, the Frenchman has been spotted in full training for the first time since the season's start. United's official website confirmed that Yoro was in action with the rest of his teammates in an open session ahead of the club's Europa League tie with PAOK on Thursday.

Yoro was signed on a five-year deal by Erik ten Hag in July but never got the chance to appear in a competitive fixture for the Dutch coach, who was sacked last week. Ruud van Nistelrooy has taken charge of the team on an interim basis.

If Yoro doesn't feature at Old Trafford this week, he will only have one more opportunity to play for the temporary Dutch coach before Ruben Amorim begins his much-anticipated tenure on Monday.

Amorim warned that "Manchester United cannot play" the same way as his Sporting CP side. Yoro's prodigious quality will give the Portuguese coach more confidence in his backline but the 18-year-old defender doesn't have any extensive experience in a back-three, which is Amorim's preferred system.

Yoro was joined on the training pitch by Christian Eriksen. The Danish midfielder was forced to sit out United's last two fixtures against Leicester City and Chelsea. Fellow centre-back Harry Maguire remains injured and is joined in the treatment room by the team's only two senior left-backs, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
