Joy Behar, co-host of “The View,” recently explained how she already misses President Joe Biden as he prepares to hand over power to President-elect Donald Trump in several days. Behar’s comments followed Biden’s farewell address, as the reality of the second Trump administration is beginning to set in, which the panelists on the ABC talk show have lamented since the election in November.

“I miss him already,” Behar began, as Sunny Hostin concurred, “I do too.”  Behar continued, “I miss him. He’s a good person. You know, he spent the last 50 years caring about the country.”  Taking a shot at President-elect Trump, she said, “This other one [Donald Trump] spent 50 years scamming everybody, you know, and trying to stay out of jail. You know who I’m talking about.”

Despite a disruption to a period of global peace, surging domestic crime rates, and a perceived breakdown in competent governance, Behar maintained that she felt “safe” under Biden’s leadership. “I really miss Biden. I feel like we were safe, like I didn’t have to worry, was anything going to blow up? I could live my life while he was there,” she said.

Building on this point, Behar continued, “Every day I wake up and I worry, what is this guy going to do next?” she said of incoming President-elect Donald Trump.”  Furthermore, she called out the “oligarchs,” presumable referring to the numerous billionaires who have thrown their support behind Donald Trump. “And these oligarchs, can I just say one more thing?” she asked, broaching the topic.

She went on, “They need to start showing their money out this guy’s Bezos and they give it to Trump? Do they think that they’re going to live forever? These people, you know, everybody dies. I hate to break it to them, but you are not going to live forever. According to the World Food Program, we can end world hunger by 2030, with $40 billion that’s all it would take.”

Directly calling out Tesla founder Elon Musk, who has become and outspoken Republican and is set to co-head D.O.G.E, Behar suggested that he has ulterior motives to gain power.  “And Elon Musk, his net worth grew by $170 billion in the month after the election, just wait. Keeps making more and more money and nothing is done with that money to help people. It’s just to increase their power,” she said.

The American Tribune reported on Biden’s farewell address, which included a teleprompter gaffe when the president read “end of quote” at the very end of his speech. “Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power, and influence, that literally threatens our entire democracy. Our basic rights and freedoms. And a fair shot for everyone to get ahead,” Biden said in part.

Tying his speech into the Democratic climate change narrative, he continued, “Powerful forces want to wield their unchecked influence to eliminate the steps we’ve taken to tackle the climate crisis, to serve their own interest for power and profit. We must not be bullied to sacrifice in the future, the future of our children and our grandchildren.”
