It's a five-star hotel and celebrity hotspot known for its opulence and decadence, but internet users have slammed one video of the renowned Chateau Marmont, saying it looks like a rundown apartment.

TikTok user and hotel reviewer Noah Roth uploaded the video showing himself making a coffee in the 1000sqt top floor suite of the famous hotel in West Hollywood.

While the name is synonymous with luxury, the kitchen outdated décor and furniture didn't scream splendor.

In the clip, Noah revealed he had booked a regular room, but asked the front desk if a suite was available, upgrading to splash out a cool $1,250 a night - plus taxes.

'Yeah it was $1,250/night plus tax… it's around 1,000 sqft in an iconic hotel,' he argued in a comment on the video.

'Recently received two Michelin Keys, in Michelin's inaugural hotel ratings,' he added.

Noah noted the size and make of the Lavazza coffee machine in his suite, saying he's never seen one so 'substantial' in short stay accommodation before.

He also pointed out the famous blue art-deco tiling in the kitchen ('if you know you know') before moving to the balcony outside.

'Look at this view,' Noah gushed. 'This view is a painting. This is a David Hocking painting right here.'

'This is a 10 million dollar view,' he declared.

While Noah was thrilled with his experience, many viewers were stunned by the lackluster interior of the famous hotel room.

'This looks like a rundown apartment,' one user snarked.

'This is a meme right. No way this is real,' another shocked user wrote.

'I get the old money vintage vibe but at least make it nice and not chipped tile etc,' said someone else.

But there were some that came to the hotel's defense as one follower pointed out: 'For everyone saying it looks like an old apartment — the chateau was first built to be an apartment complex and was later converted to a hotel.'

'"Its run down"????? Girl it's historic,' someone else hit back.

Despite the naysayers, Noah said he loved the experience - and would definitely go back.

'I loved it, will stay here again,' he wrote in a comment.

'Aura is unmatched. Everyone is friendly. Pool scene is lively. Breakfast spot has an Alice in Wonderland chess scene vibe. Great location, and food was good,' he wrote.

From clandestine affairs to extravagant parties and a spectrum of tragedies, Chataeu Marmont has drawn in stars like Natalie Wood, John Belushi, Keanu Reeves, Lindsay Lohan and more.

A.M. Homes noted in her 2002 book Los Angeles, that former head of Columbia Pictures, Harry Cohn famously advised two of his young stars, William Holden and Glenn Ford: 'If you must get into trouble, do it at the Chateau Marmont,' as per Discover LA.

Chateau Marmont was designed by architect William Douglas Lee and opened in 1929.

'The seven-story building was originally built as an apartment complex but was turned into a hotel in the 1930s.
