The Israeli military said Thursday it was probing whether Hamas leader and Oct. 7 mastermind, Yahya Sinwar, was among three terrorists killed in a recent strike in Gaza.

“During IDF operations in Gaza, three terrorists were eliminated,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.

“The IDF and ISA are checking the possibility that one of the terrorists was Yahya Sinwar. At this stage, the identity of the terrorists cannot be confirmed.”

It added that there were no signs any hostages had been present in the building where the three terrorists were killed.

Sinwar, the chief architect of the Oct. 7 bloodshed that triggered the Gaza war, was named head of the terror group after former leader, Ismail Haniyeh, was assassinated in Tehran in August.
