Influencer Rebecca Zamolo has revealed the extent of her husband's injuries after a freak accident during barbecue.

The 43-year-old content creator, from Los Angeles, California, took to Instagram to detail the 'scary' incident involving husband Matt Slays.

Zamolo, who boasts 3.3 million followers, wrote: 'For those who don't know, Matt's face caught on fire at our BBQ and it gave him second-degree superficial burns.'

She explained that the barbecue happened just hours before a 'flight to Hawaii to celebrate his birthday.'

'It was a scary incident for all of us, and a reminder how precious life is,' Zamolo said.

'Thank you to everyone that has reached out and friends that are in the medical field and put him on a good path to heal.'

She concluded: 'He's extremely lucky as it could have been a lot worse, but we are taking it day by day. We love you Matt.'

The post included four images that gave a glimpse of Slays' injuries, with distinct markings across his face.

Zamolo spoke to People at the time about how she and her husband were transitioning into becoming parents of two.

'We divide responsibilities so both kids feel loved and get one-on-one time,' she shared.

'For example, I'll take care of Xander's night routine while Matt spends time with Zadie, then we switch. It is the only way that works for us for making sure each of them gets quality time with both of us...

'While it's been an adjustment, she's excited about her baby brother and loves helping him.'
