In a statement on Saturday night, Baqaei denounced the recurrent US and UK strikes on Yemen as a brazen violation of the UN Charter and the fundamental principles of the international law.

He reminded the attackers of their international responsibility for such unlawful strikes on Yemen.

The Iranian spokesman described the Israeli regime’s policy of occupation, bellicosity, and expansionism as the root cause of persistent insecurity and instability in the region, stressing the need for a halt to the Zionist regime’s aggression against Lebanon and massacre in Gaza in order for peace and stability to return to the region.

He said the measures by the people of Yemen and other Muslim nations in the region in response to the Zionist regime’s crimes against Palestine, Lebanon and Syria are their natural reaction to the slaughter of their Palestinian and Lebanese brothers and sisters.

Baqaei expressed confidence that the illegitimate use of military force by the US and its allies against the Yemeni people will by no means undermine their determination to defend the people of Palestine and Lebanon.

His comments came after the US military struck a number of cities in Yemen.

Forces from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the military command responsible for US forces in the Middle East, said they have conducted strikes on 15 Houthi targets in areas of Yemen on Friday.

Four strikes targeted Sana’a and seven hit Hudaydah, according to Al Masirah TV network.

The Hudaydah strikes hit the airport and the Katheib area, Al Masirah said.

At least one strike hit Dhamar province, and air raids took place in Bayda province, southeast of Sana’a.

Al Masirah, which did not elaborate on any damage or casualties, said the United Kingdom also participated in the attacks.

But the UK Ministry of Defense has categorically denied any involvement in the strikes, according to an official who spoke to the Al Jazeera office in London.
