In comments at a video conference with the commanders and personnel of the Command Headquarters of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Monday, Abbas Araqchi highlighted the ministry’s wise and prudent policies during the past 12 months.
Asked by the IRGC commanders about the timing of the operation True Promise III in response to the Zionist regime’s October 26 strike against Iran, Araqchi said the Foreign Ministry has made it clear that the Israeli operation amounted to a new act of aggression.
He stated that such an Israeli act of aggression necessitates a response from Iran, adding, “We have not renounced our right to reaction (to Israel) and will show a reaction in due time and in a manner we deem appropriate.”
Araqchi stated that the Foreign Ministry would never make emotional decisions, saying Iran has already given a response considering the whole conditions and probabilities and the plots that may have been hatched against Iran, so that it could prevent the spread of war.
“The response must be given. The calculations of the enemy should be managed and we should not allow the enemy to come to the conclusion that it will be able to hit Iran without any reaction,” Araqchi told the IRGC commanders, giving an assurance that the proper response to Israel will be given in due time with the prudence that prevails at the top levels of the Iranian establishment.
On October 26, Israeli warplanes used US-controlled airspace over Iraq to launch attacks on sites in Iran’s Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces, resulting in the deaths of four Iranian servicemen and one civilian.
The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces reported that many missiles were intercepted, and Israeli aircraft were prevented from entering Iranian airspace.
Iran has affirmed its intention to respond and reiterated it will not relinquish its right to defend its sovereignty.
