The meeting, co-chaired by the deputy foreign ministers of Iran and Iraq, was participated by representatives from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Justice Ministry, Science Ministry, the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), and the embassies of the two countries in Tehran and Baghdad.

The session revolved around consular subjects, including the visa regime, scientific and educational cooperation between the two neighbors, judicial and legal support, the affairs pertaining to the Police and the INTERPOL, and the settlement of problems relating to the visitors from the two countries.

The two delegations agreed in the meeting that the large number of trips made by Iranian and Iraqi nationals to the other country has been a great achievement in strengthening the bilateral relations.

Iran and Iraq have signed agreements to remove visa restrictions for the Arbaeen pilgrims, raise the level of services and facilities for the pilgrims, and enhance border security during the pilgrimage season.
