Iran’s foreign ministry denied British allegations that they were behind an attempted terrorist attack against a UK airbase housing American bombers in an X post Monday.

Several men allegedly in possession of explosives were arrested in late September outside RAF Fairford airbase in Gloucestershire, England. United Kingdom Prime Minister Andy Burnham told Parliament on Monday that “it is highly likely to have been coordinated in Iran, almost certainly by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).”

The UK, alongside several allies including the United States, published a joint statement alleging IRGC involvement in a statement Monday. (RELATED: Terror Suspects Arrested Outside UK Air Base Released On Bail)

The statement also included the British government’s conclusion that the plot “demonstrates the IRGC’s continued willingness to project hostile activity beyond its borders through covert networks and proxy actors.”

“Anyone who conducts hostile activities on behalf of Iran, or any other state, should know that we will take action to identify, investigate, disrupt, and prosecute these acts,” the statement added.

The Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the British government’s allegations “unfounded,” calling for the UK government to be held accountable “for undermining international peace and security.”

“The conduct of #England in fabricating security claims against other countries—which in some instances has led to tensions and costly conflicts in the West Asia region—is not hidden from anyone,” the statement reads, “and the UK government must be held accountable for undermining international peace and security.”

The post included the statement in Farsi and a video detailing alleged “false flag attacks” perpetrated by the Israeli government.

Iran’s Embassy to the UK previously denied allegations of involvement in the plot in an X post, writing that the country “reserves the right to take appropriate legal measures, as necessary, to safeguard the rights and interests of the country and its people in response to misleading and damaging media narratives.”

President Donald Trump stated that the Pentagon removed its bombers from RAF Fairford following the incident due to a “threat,” the BBC reported.

“If we’re gonna be threatened, we’ll just move them, and that sort of alleviated that,” the president added. “And we actually know the people that made the threat, and they’ve got themselves some big problems.”

All seven suspects arrested in connection with the attempted bombing have been released on bail.
