Pezeshkian made the remark in a meeting with Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Tehran on Wednesday.
Pointing to the bilateral agreements signed during his visit to Doha in early October, Pezeshkian stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of the accords.
"We must speed up the implementation of the agreements made during this trip, and I hope you will pursue these agreements more seriously. We emphasize broader and deeper relations with our friendly neighbor, Qatar,” the president said, his official website reported.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran acts on what it says and will adhere to its agreements, and I hope the agreements between us will be fully implemented," he added.
Pezeshkian also referred to his idea of unity in the Islamic world, saying, "Our heartfelt desire is to have close relations with our Muslim brothers and to show to the world that Muslim countries can live together in peace and tranquility while respecting each other and exchanging their experiences."
The Qatari prime minister, for his part, expressed his country's interest in expanding relations with Iran, hoping that the Emir of Qatar would visit Iran early next year.
"The Emir and government of Qatar emphasize the acceleration of the implementation of agreements between the two countries”, the Qatari premier and foreign minister said.
“The Qatari government seeks to expand relations and establish a solid foundation in the relations between the two countries, and the Emir of Qatar always emphasizes this,” Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said, adding that “Qatar will always be a strong and trusted ally for Iran.”
Regarding regional developments, the Qatari prime minister said that his government appreciates and supports President Pezeshkian’s view on the unity of the Islamic world, adding that the great and powerful Iran can realize the idea of Islamic unity.
