Mikhail Bogdanov, the special representative of the Russian president for the Middle East and Africa, held talks with senior adviser to Iran’s foreign minister on special political affairs, Ali Asghar Khaji, in Tehran on Tuesday.
The two diplomats exchanged views on the latest developments in West Asia, especially in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.
They both expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions and the worsening crisis in the region, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.
Bogdanov and Khaji also described the ongoing airstrikes on Yemen as a factor exacerbating insecurity and instability in the region.
Voicing concern about the recent actions by the US and the Zionist regime in supporting terrorist and separatist groups in Syria with the purpose of destabilize the country, Khaji emphasized the need to halt these interferences and respect Syria’s sovereignty.
Bogdanov, for his part, described the regional situation as highly concerning and stressed the importance of ending the conflicts and tensions in the region.
