WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following another round of aggressive media questions about his reasoning behind implementing sweeping tariffs on foreign goods, President Donald Trump allegedly leaned over and inquired to Vice President JD Vance if it was too late to find out what a tariff was.
"Hey, is it too late to ask what a tariff is?" Trump reportedly whispered to Vance. "Everybody seems really mad about them, whatever they are."
In response, Vance reportedly shrugged back at the president.
According to sources, Trump's chief economic advisor, Stephen Miran, was stunned by the president's question and promptly pulled him aside. Though the details of their ensuing conversation were unknown, Trump's eyes allegedly grew wide while Miran whispered a lengthy explanation into his ear. As their talk continued, witnesses said Trump turned increasingly pale.
When yet another reporter asked what the thought process was behind imposing tariffs on Vietnam, Trump appeared to snap.
"You keep asking me about tariffs," Trump said, blasting reporters. "Why don't you ask China? They have tariffs. No one complains about China. Go ask China. In Chinese."
"Yeah, why don't you ask China why they do tariffs?" JD Vance echoed in support.
In private, Trump allegedly admitted to imposing tariffs because he thought the word sounded cool.
At publishing time, insiders confirmed a private tutor on basic economics had been summoned to arrive at the White House as soon as possible.
