Syria's official news agency SANA, citing an unnamed military source, stated, "The Israeli enemy launched an air aggression from the direction of Lebanese territory at 00:05 a.m. local time (2105 GMT Tuesday), targeting border crossings between Syria and Lebanon."
The source confirmed that the strikes killed six individuals—two soldiers and four civilians—and injured 12 others, including children, women, and Syrian Arab Red Crescent workers. Significant damage was reported at the targeted border crossings.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Israeli aircraft hit official crossings at al-Arida in Tartus province, Daboussieh, and Jusiyah in Homs province. Unofficial crossings in Wadi Khaled and three bridges over the al-Kabir River, which links Syria and Lebanon, were also targeted.
The observatory noted that the strikes have rendered most land crossings between Syria and Lebanon inoperable.
Syrian state television reported that 18 people were injured at the al-Arida crossing, with three in critical condition. Separately, Sham FM radio reported six deaths and 15 injuries at the Daboussieh crossing.
Israel frequently conducts airstrikes on sites in Syria, often targeting positions linked to the Lebanese group Hezbollah, which has supported the Syrian army in its fight against foreign-backed militants.
These attacks have caused numerous civilian casualties over the years.
