In one of the funniest interactions between American politicians on X (formerly Twitter) so far this year, Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) dropped a devastating one-liner on Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), obliterating a ridiculous point she was trying to make about illegal immigration with a common sense fact-check on the reality of the situation.
The situation when Crockett appeared on MSNBC to speak with host Katie Phang on her show, “The Katie Phang Show,” on Saturday, March 8. During her appearance, Crockett tried claiming that it is not a criminal act to enter America illegally, ignoring that by definition it is a criminal act to do something that is illegal.
She said, as Phang ridiculously nodded along to the vacuous representative’s moronic claim, “It is not a criminal violation to enter the country illegally… it’s not a crime.” Rep. Crockett then went on to tell Phang that Republicans are upset because they “really want our local law enforcement to go out and round up people when they could be looking out for the murderers and the sex abusers.”
Continuing, Crockett referenced the political persecution of Donald Trump and used his conviction to justify not fighting back against illegal immigration. She said, “Don’t give me this fake outrage about criminals roaming our streets when you guys stand ten toes down for the biggest criminal we have ever seen go into the White House.”
Predictably, conservative accounts on X picked up the ridiculous segment and posted it to mock Rep. Crockett. Amongst those that did so was the Libs of TikTok X account, which simply posted the clip and captioned it with Rep. Crockett’s own words, saying, “‘It is not a criminal violation to enter the country illegally… It’s not a crime.’ – Rep Jasmine Crockett.”
It was to that post that Sen. Lee responded and slammed Crockett, writing, “Yeah, it’s literally a crime. See 8 U.S.C. § 1325.” That code section provides, “Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.”

Another commenter on the Libs of TikTok post said, “Typical Democrat mindset, ignoring the rule of law and undermining national security. This kind of thinking is why our borders are in chaos and Americans are suffering the consequences. When will they prioritize American citizens over illegal aliens, Rep Crockett?”
Still another commenter on the Libs of TikTok post questioned why Americans are voting for someone who is so uninformed, writing, “Entering the Country ILLEGALLY is NOT a CRIME?! 😳🙄🤦♀️ This is a “representative” in Congress RIGHT NOW who the Dems are grooming for a VP seat. WTF AMERICA- WTF?!”
