Another fan-favorite restaurant chain continues to shrink, as the Italian-American eatery Fazoli's shutters four more locations.

The latest closures bring the total number of closed Fazoli's locations to 50 in a mere nine months.

The beloved chain had 200 US locations in November last year, but Fazoli's is down to just 142 storefronts as of August 17.

Among the latest casualties is the Fazoli's on Beckley Road in Battle Creek, Michigan, which has now closed its doors. The closure marks the chain's exit from West Michigan completely, with only two Fazoli's restaurants remaining in the state, in Jackson and Lansing.

A restaurant in Lincoln, Nebraska, closed in mid-July, leaving only three Fazoli's restaurants still operating in Nebraska.

Two Kentucky restaurants in Lexington and Nicholasville disappeared, even though the state remains one of Fazoli's strongest markets, with 26 restaurants still operating.

Fazoli's, which was founded in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1988, built a loyal following with its inexpensive Italian-American fare and unlimited garlic breadsticks.

Its menu includes baked entrees, pizza, sandwiches and the chain's signature breadsticks, which are coated in a garlic butter.

Fazoli's is an American-Italian chain with over 100 locations in the US - although the number of locations has dwindled in recent years

They're best known for their pasta dishes, including the Loaded Fettuccine Alfredo, with bacon, chicken, sauteed mushrooms and parmesan-roasted broccoli.

'At Fazoli’s, we promise more than just a meal,' Fazoli's says on its website. 'We offer an experience where every guest is an integral part of our family. Here, breaking breadsticks is not just a tradition.

'It’s an invitation to savor every delicious moment. Join us at Fazoli’s, where every visit is a memorable chapter in our shared story of Italian delight.'

The chain has also completely disappeared from Alabama, while Indiana has lost 11 restaurants, leaving just 18 locations.

Several other states now have just a single Fazoli's location, including California, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Virginia.

The Italian-American hotspot's decision to close locations comes amid financial troubles at its parent company, FAT Brands.

FAT Brands filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on January 26, 2026, after accumulating substantial debt.

The company said the restructuring would help strengthen its financial position and put its restaurant brands on a path toward longer-term growth.

Olive Garden remains one of the latest Italian chain restaurants by store count, with over 950 locations nationwide

FAT Brands owns a portfolio of restaurant chains, including Fatburger, Hurricane Grill & Wings, Johnny Rockets and, of course, Fazoli's.

The bankruptcy led to most of the company's restaurant brands being acquired by FBG BidCo, an entity made up of some of its previous bondholders, in a $595 million credit bid. Fazoli's was among the brands included in the deal.

Despite the closures, Fazoli's is far from gone.

More than 140 locations remain open across the country, and they will continue to operate its online ordering, rewards program and restaurant locator through its website.
